Oklahoma CWU is excited about offering this opportunity of making and using our ribbon segments at the Oklahoma State Capitol. You are invited to join us!

There have been phone calls from Arkansas, Washington, Texas, Kansas, North Dakota, California, New Jersey, New York, Arizona, and more to come we hope. Some will come and many plan to send segments for us to use. If you want to send a segment we would appreciate a $10.00 donation to CWU in Oklahoma as we plan to send the segment back to you with
information about our day at the Capitol.

Michele Peppers of The Ribbon International has sent six ribbon segments for us to use in OKC. To learn more about the Ribbon visit www.theribboninternational.org We will gather at 2:30 p.m. for the Ribbon of Tangible Hope Litany, join egments together, read the Interfaith Litany and sing “Let There Be Peace On Earth” before departing the Capitol grounds.

Church Women United in Oklahoma will be in Oklahoma City on Sunday and then on Monday, April 19, in honor of the 15th anniversary of the Alfred B. Murrah Building National Memorial we will be ribboning a special place in our local communities.

If unable to be in Oklahoma City please display your Ribbons in your home or community and say the Interfaith Litany for peace on April 18 and 19.

Past Events

International Health Awareness Network

IHAN (International Health Awareness Network) www.IHAN.org co-sponsored the "Hiroshima Peace Conference" along with Lehman College and The Ribbon International.

Ribbons surround the A-Bomb Memorial with participants from the conference and Hiroshima townspeople, an interfaith prayer for peace was read. The conference "Building a Just and Sustainable Peace" was held in Hiroshima (Aug. 31-Sept.3, 2006) with Nobel Peace Laureates Shirin Ebadi and Jodi Williams as keynots speakers. The Hiroshima Peace Ribbon Association organized the event along with the help of the Girl Scouts.

KENYA

July 2005 - Ribbon created in Wangigi, Kenya for the Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non Violence for the Children of the World. Printed at the bottom of the Ribbon: "Please take care of this world and us until we grow up!"
